Where do we regulation AI?
Blocking Legislation on AI

These "regulations" that big AI and big politicians are trying to stop… Oh man… Where do I start?

I'll start with the first crazy thing I ever heard from Sam Altman: "It's not fair that we should have to worry about copyright violations while trying to develop this stuff." Holy entitlement, Batman!

Yes, Sam, you poor, poor little billionaire. Did the entire world of creators not say it was okay after you just went ahead and stole all of it to train your models? Poor, poor Sam.

Politicians want to pass these laws so that this level of entitlement can continue for their ultra-rich supporters, or so they can win a "race" with China. But what they don't see is that unbridled AI advancement, especially when put to military use, really does put the gasoline of robotic weaponry right next to the flame of the AI Alignment problem.

Humans haven't solved our own alignment problem. AI has been trained on us humans, who tend to do terrible things to each other to get what we want. We don't have this figured out yet. If you haven't looked into the Al Alignment problem: the cost of "missing this problem on the test" is human extinction. I'm just sayin'.

Please do not express approval for banning legislation. It would be like if Jurassic Park dinosaurs were suddenly made real, and the president wanted to put feeding stations on every corner for them AND ban killing or regulating them in any way for 10 years, because we want to beat China in the dinosaur race.

If he's such a great deal maker, he should negotiate with China to end the race and agree on how we keep humankind safe in the face of ever-increasing automated intelligence - a menace we don't understand and have never faced before, yet we are actively building the beast.

This sums it up well, while providing some needed levity. Enjoy!
